Lochranza
The Lochranza Church Centre is a building that is part of the overall congregation of the Isle of Arran Parish Church. There is a total local congregation of about fifty communicant members with seasonal visitors. Lochranza St Bride’s Church Centre is at one end of the village and is a listed property that is well maintained and accommodation for about 120 worshippers. It has a sound loop system and organ and is open twenty-four hours a day to be accessed by anyone who wants peace to pray. There is a beautiful interior with stained glass windows including a new skylight window depicting St Bride that celebrated the tercentenary of the church. In the surrounding graveyard there are three war graves that are marked by a bronze poppy.
Our visitor’s book holds messages of folk from all over the world who come to find fellowship during fleeting visits or longer vacations.
As part of the island wide celebration of children we will be holding Messy Church at Christmas and Easter with the celebration of .Jesus’s birth reflected in our Christmas Day Service. We remember to the sacrifice of local families and others across the world in our Remembrance Day Service held in Pirnmill before traversing to the War Memorial.
Locally we share responsibility for the people of our community, visiting, sharing pastoral concerns, making hospital visits, delivering the church magazine and welcoming new babies.
Worship is important to us and our Facebook page reminds locals and visitors alike of the times and dates of services. We are so fortunate to have Liz Clarke and Sharon MacLeod living among on the island and conducting worship that embraces local and global concerns, drawing each and every person into God’s warm embrace. Fellowship afterwards with tea, coffee and biscuits gives further opportunity to gather, reflect, celebrate and laugh together.
Come all ye.
You are welcome in this place.
